Shude Hill Metrolink Stop
A walk (distance 5 miles) led by Gas Hill, linking the national network and industrial offshoots of the railways, some still active but mostly remains of former lines, of inner East Manchester. The route takes in Oldham Road Goods, the Miles Platting and Philips Park junction areas, Stuart Street Power Station line and connections through Clayton Aniline and English Steel Openshaw to Ashburys, as well as the Rochdale and Ashton Canals and new tramway.
Meet in central Manchester at Shudehill Metrolink Stop at 10:30 (there are frequent trams from Victoria and Piccadilly railway stations to this rendezvous).
There will be a lunch break with cafe and pub options, and the walk will finish by 16:00 in the Ashburys area, where there are frequent train and bus services, including into Manchester City Centre.
